FAQ
Cooker hood maintenance and cleaning
- To ensure the proper exhaust air flow from the cooker hood, it should be maintained regularly.
- Clean the grease filter at least once a month, either by hand or in the dishwasher.
- Detach the grease filters from the quick-release latch.
- Clean also the frame and the area around the booster flap.
- Use a cleaner that is designed for cleaning powder-coated and plastic surfaces.
- Strong cleaners may alter the color of the grease filter; however, this does not affect the filter’s efficiency or its functionality.
How often should the AHU filters be replaced?
It is recommended to inspect and replace the filters of your air handling unit twice a year. However, the interval may vary depending on the environment. For example, in cities, filters may need to be replaced more frequently. High pollen levels and household pets can also affect the need for filter replacement. The appropriate interval can be determined by checking the conditions of the filter on a regular basis.
What is Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)?
Mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR) is a ventilation system that removes used, moisture-laden, and polluted air from inside a building and replaces it with fresh outdoor air. A key feature of the system is heat recovery, which transfers the heat from the extracted air to the incoming supply air. This process is carried out by a heat recovery unit, which transfers thermal energy between airflows without mixing them.
What is Airfi Frost Pro System (AFPS™)?
AFPS is a frost protection system developed by Airfi that utilises artificial intelligence. It ensures that the heat recovery coil in the ventilation unit is defrosted only when necessary. Thanks to adaptive AI, the defrosting function operates for the exact duration required. A key feature is that the energy used for defrosting is sourced from the extract air that is leaving the building. The result is optimally functioning ventilation throughout the year and significant energy savings for households
Air handling unit software update
- Extract the .zip file. Transfer the airfi-sw.bin file to a FAT16 or FAT32 USB flash drive. NOTE! Make sure the file name is airfi-sw.bin. After this, you can remove the memory stick from the computer.
- Open the front panel of the air handling unit.
- Switch off the air handling unit.
- Plug the USB memory stick into the USB port and restart the unit.
- A green light flashes at the base of the USB stick. If the light is not flashing, charging has not been successful. In this case, check and, if necessary, replace the USB stick.
- Wait for the buzzer to sound. After the buzzer sounds, you can remove the USB flash drive from the unit.
- Close the front panel of the air handling unit. The program update has now been successfully completed.
Filters and Filter Classifications
A good filter is an investment in both healthy indoor air and energy-efficient operation. The choice of filter directly affects the pressure drop in the air handling unit, energy consumption, and the overall performance of the system. Dirty or incorrect filter types increase airflow resistance.
Filter classifications define a filter’s ability to remove particles of different sizes from the air. The ISO 16890 standard replaced the EN 779 standard in 2018. A filter manufactured after 2018 that only carries an F7 classification is no longer officially classified according to the current standard. The former G4 corresponds to ISO Coarse 90%. The former F7 corresponds to ISO ePM1 40–65% or ISO ePM2.5 65–75%.
The frequency of filter replacement has a significant impact on long-term costs. We recommend checking the condition of the filters regularly and replacing them at least twice a year – more often during the pollen season if necessary. Please use only original Airfi filters.
