Infobite 1: What is Airflow?

Airflow indicates how much air moves within a certain period of time – for example, in a ventilation duct or terminal device. The units commonly used are dm³/s or m³/h. The principle is based on simple physics: air flows from high pressure to low pressure. Properly dimensioned airflow is a key factor in indoor air quality, energy efficiency, and user comfort.

Airflows are often presented using a standardized pressure difference of 100 Pa, because it ensures comparability between products and systems, and it corresponds well to typical operating conditions in ventilation systems.
In this series, we’ll go through the key concepts of ventilation in a clear and concise way.
